Reduced earning capacity

Financial security - when you're no longer able to work

Cover for reduced earning capacity

A cover for reduced earning capacity provides you with a guaranteed monthly income if you lose your earnings because you are no longer able to work due to serious illness or accident.

The insurance is an essential element in ensuring basic financial security for you and your family.

Why cover for reduced earning capacity is important

1 in 5 Danes will experience a prolonged illness lasting more than three months during their working life.

If this were to happen to you, a cover for reduced earning capacity would be a vital safety net. This cover ensures that you receive a monthly benefit if you become ill or injured to the extent that you lose all or part of your income.

This way, you do not have to worry about finances or budgeting - you can focus solely on getting better.

If you receive full pay during sick leave, your employer will receive the benefit as compensation for the lost hours.

We take care of your pension savings while you’re ill

If you can no longer work due to prolonged illness and receive a disbursement from your cover for reduced earning capacity, we’ll take over the contributions to your pension savings so that your savings do not decrease while you’re on sick leave.

We also take care of payments for the insurance covers you have under your scheme. This way, they can continue unchanged until you recover or until the agreed expiry date. This is provided that you have a loss of income.

This gives you one less financial worry while you’re ill.

We automatically adjust your insurance cover

Many workplaces choose a salary scale on cover for reduced earning capacity. The salary scale ensures that your insurance cover is adjusted when your salary increases, for example, due to annual salary adjustments or a raise. This way, you can be sure that the total disbursement from Velliv and the public sector always corresponds to our recommendation of a cover between 80 and 100 per cent of your previous salary.
